We lived in Hawaii for over 10 years; Maui, the Big Island and Oahu. A couple of years ago when we relocated, we really missed Maui. We visited Hawaii several times. During one visit to Maui we browsed street fairs and shops on the quiet side of the island, hidden from the tourist spots.

We stocked up on Maui treasures, we felt like we had a special secret. On the flight home we admired our Tahitian black pearls, wish bracelets, arts and fragrances. We wished we had brought more for birthdays, Christmas and ourselves. Everyone we know loves these gifts. Everyone we know loves Maui, but cannot get away to go. Even the sand was a commodity, “bring me a little bag of sand,” friends would ask us.

The artists and crafters are happy to be appreciated and ask modest compensation for amazing work. Their work is an expression of love, they are inspired by the beauty surrounding them.
